Adeel Jamal

AdeelPostdoctoral Associate

Adeel grew up in Miami, FL. He did his undergraduate and graduate studies at Florida International University under Prof Alexander Mebel. His track was on mechanisms and kinetics based on first principles of hydrocarbon reactions found in astrochemical, atmospheric, and combustion systems. After his graduation in 2012, he joined Prof Keiji Morokuma at Emory University in Atlanta, GA as a postdoctoral researcher for two years working on chemical species and reaction steps from pyrolysis and oxidation of hydrocarbons based on ab initio calculations. He was then awarded the Japan Promotion of Science (JSPS) Postdoctoral Fellowship in 2015 at Kyoto University in Kyoto, Japan. There, he worked mainly on combustion projects pertaining to jet-fuels, among other projects.

Now as a postdoctoral researcher in Prof William H. Green’s group, he is focusing on contributions towards methodology and applications using strategies and packages developed here, including Reaction Mechanism Generator (RMG).

On his rare spare time, he likes to exercise, play/watch basketball, watch random documentaries, and any water-related activities.
